William Hill closes three of its online brands
In a communication sent to its affiliates William Hill announced its plans to close three of its online brands that today would no longer be accepting new customers. These are the brands EuroGrand, 21Nova and William Hill Casino Club. The plan is part of the restructuring process of William Hill's businesses in Europe that have a significant purchase offer by 888 Holdings.
William Hill and Mr Green focus all the attention of the online company
The management of the well-known William Hill brand announced just a few days ago that it was closing the online casinos EuroGrand, 21Nova and William Hill Casino Club as part of the ongoing strategic restructuring of William Hill's global businesses , acquired by Caesars Entertainment it has completely changed the course of the British brand.
The the rise of the North American betting market it focuses all expectations and the online business in other markets is affected. The intention is create a stable customer base in regulated markets where William Hill is already a prestigious brand alongside Mr Green, whose acquisition closed in 2019 .
William Hill announced that it was canceling all promotions and marketing campaigns related to the aforementioned casinos and gave a deadline until the end of November for customers to cancel their accounts.
But this is not the end of William Hill in Europe by any means. In the UK William Hill will continue to operate well-known online gaming platforms such as redbet or MamaMia bingo , although from the company it is recognized that efforts are now focused on the main brands William Hill and Mr Green .
The agreement with 888 goes ahead... for now
Pending the approval of the agreement by the shareholders, the interest of 888 Holdings to acquire the physical gaming and betting premises of William Hill in the UK it remains firm.
It may seem strange that a purely online firm like 888 is interested in acquiring physical gambling halls that, in addition to having suffered a lot economically during the pandemic, are increasingly becoming an obsolete business model. Entain also revealed in September that it was embarking on a reshuffle of its retail businesses in the UK and Europe with a view to creating a new-fangled digital experience in establishments in spaces with a decidedly contemporary style.
Itai Pazner, CEO of 888 , stated that the acquisition of William Hill stores and salons will provide the brand with a more complete experience . The idea may not be as far-fetched as it seems. But the truth is that it is about 1,400 stores and 10,500 workers. Undoubtedly, next year we will witness a major restructuring of the business in the UK.
