Record figures for Coljuegos during the first quarter of 2022

Colombia continues to consolidate its position as the most important gaming and betting market in Latin America. The Colombian regulatory authority, Coljuegos, has again reported excellent figures. During the first quarter of 2022, the collection for exploitation rights would have reached 170 billion pesos, almost 41 million euros, which represents an increase of 17% compared to the previous year.

The gambling market in Colombia continues to be in luck. Despite its limited size compared to the main European markets, Colombia, which already has 17 licensed online casinos, including the Spanish brands Luckia, Sportium and Codere, continues to grow in the field and getting good numbers that turn into important transfers to health . This is the result of a regulated and sustainable gaming market.

Last year it was already reported that spectacular growth of the sector in Colombia, with increases of up to 148% in the online segment . The road this year is developing along similar paths. The Colombian authority Coljuegos has reported record figures so far in 2022.

The figures of the digital game rival those of the localized game

The report presented by Coljuegos in its Newsletter 005 highlights a 17% increase in revenue compared to the same period the previous year, which in itself was already a year of records. Of course, gross sales also grew. And they did it by 54% in relation to the same period in 2021 reaching the extraordinary figure of 14.4 billion pesos .

All this is a sign of the good gambling health in Colombia thanks to the policies implemented by Coljuegos. The president of the entity, César Valencia Galiano, indicated in the published bulletin that:

“The games of luck and chance industry is committed to the economic reactivation and sustainability of the country. From Coljuegos, we will continue to promote the diversification of the portfolio of games of luck and chance, the fight against illegality throughout the Colombian territory and technological modernization to achieve more efficient processes that allow us to continue consolidating ourselves as one of the most important sectors in Colombia. We extend an invitation to all Colombians to opt for games of luck and chance as a legal and responsible entertainment activity, choosing any of the establishments and Internet portals authorized by Coljuegos, because every resource generated from this industry contributes to the financing of the health of Colombians.” César Valencia Galiano , President of Coljuego, in Bulletin 005

The report highlights that transfers to health have reached almost 267 billion pesos , just over 63 million euros. Not a negligible figure at all. It represents an increase of 242% compared to the previous year in the same period.

The collections according to segments they are broken down as follows:

  • Localized games (casinos and bingos): 71.5 million pesos.
  • Internet games: 50 million pesos.
  • Baloto Rematch: 17.7 million pesos.
  • SUPER astro: 29.7 million pesos.
  • Promotional games: 1 million pesos.

With regard to gross sales , the figures that are achieved according to the different segments are as follows:

  • Localized games (casinos and bingos): 8.7 billion pesos.
  • Internet games: 5.4 billion pesos.
  • SUPER astro: 152.9 million pesos.
  • Baloto Rematch: 52.6 million pesos.

This implies a further 54% growth with respect to the same period the previous year. Coljuegos has highlighted that the increase in sales of online games has been driven above all by slot machines, the live casino and virtual roulette , and sports betting.
