In Colombia Coljuegos takes stock of the first semester of the year
The Colombian regulatory authority Coljuegos has presented the numbers corresponding to the collection for gambling during the first six months of 2022. Its president César Augusto Vicente Galiano was pleased to announce a 22% increase over the same period in 2021. Colombia increases its revenue thanks to the regulated gambling market

Regulatory advances in internet gambling in the Latin American region:
1. Colombia: regulated market, Coljuegos authority.
2. Argentina: regulated market in most provinces, the most important markets being those of the Province and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires . LOTBA is the regulatory authority for the city of Buenos Aires.
3. Peru: the law regulating the online gaming market it has been promulgated and the granting of the first licenses by Mincetur is expected shortly.
4. Uruguay: The bill regulating the online market has been approved in the Senate.
5. Brazil: the Chamber of Deputies has the text that legalizes online gaming and betting has been approved . Impasse due to the threat of veto in the Senate and the proximity of the presidential elections.
6. Chile: imminent approval of online gambling under the authority of the SCJ, although there is a dispute between land-based casinos that have denounced online platforms.
7. Bolivia and Paraguay: there is a willingness to legalize remote internet gaming although there has been no legislative progress in this regard. Gambling is protected by law and regulated by the AJ supervisory authority (Bolivia) and Conajzar (Paraguay).
Figures that invite optimism
On August 17, the president of Coljuegos César Augusto Vicente Galiano presented the figures corresponding to the first semester of the year in the framework of the 2021-2022 Accountability. As a whole the gambling sector registered an increase of 22% in terms of operating rights with respect to the same period in 2021, which has resulted in a collection of 359,741 million pesos. Also, the net sales of the games grew by 33%.
The figures provided by Vicente Galiano they are shelled out as follows according to their contribution to the collection:
- Ground games: 42%
- Online games: 32%
- Super Astro: 16%
- Baloto Rematch: 9%
- Promotional games: 1%
Considering these figures Vicente Galiano highlighted the contribution of the online games and bets that consolidate their contribution to the collection . Remote gambling had already experienced a spectacular growth in 2021 , and it seems that the trend is not slowing down at the moment.

The money raised has mostly gone to finance the health of Colombians and in this regard the transferred amount has increased this year by 104% , reaching 349.405 million peso. Of these, the most important amount has been taken by the Local Health Funds in the municipalities with more than 62 million pesos. Departmental Health Funds have also taken a good pinch, in addition to the money that has been transferred to the General Social Security System, the National Pension Fund and the Ministry of Science and Technology.
In this regard, Vicente Galiano concluded the following:
“For Coljuegos, the social work carried out by the gambling industry is very important by contributing, not only from public finances to the country's tax scheme, but also to the financing of health in the different Colombian regions.”
